More and more of them are back in jail — on state or local charges where Trump cannot pardon them.
Here’s a very short list:
- Andrew Paul Johnson: A Florida man who received a full pardon for his role in the Jan. 6 riot was sentenced in March 2026 to life in prison for sexually abusing children.
- Christopher Moynihan: Pardoned for his participation in the Capitol breach, Moynihan was arrested in October 2025 and later pleaded guilty to threatening to murder House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
- Jake Lang: A prominent Jan. 6 figure who was released after a pardon was arrested in February 2026 in Minnesota on a felony charge of property damage after destroying an anti-ICE ice sculpture.
- Bryan Betancur: Also a recipient of a pardon, Betancur was arrested in March 2026 in the Washington, D.C. area on charges of assault and battery.
- Andrew Taake: Pardoned and released from a six-year sentence, Taake was arrested in February 2025 in Texas on an outstanding warrant for soliciting a minor.
- Matthew Huttle: A pardoned rioter with a prior history of violent crimes was shot and killed during an altercation with a sheriff’s deputy in Indiana in January 2025, just days after being pardoned.
