The second Trump presidency was always going to end in disaster and now here it is. The only question: How many will die in Trump’s useless war?

Concern is justifiably growing that a cornered Donald Trump will send US ground troops into combat on Iranian soil to avoid being personally and politically humiliated in a war he started, mismanaged and cannot end. Yet such a self-serving escalation, even if ostensibly limited in duration and scope, could itself prove catastrophic for him and the American people. Think what happened in previous US military interventions. In sum, he’s caught in a modern-day catch-22. Pick your own metaphor for dumb. Trump’s stumped, hoist by his own petard, stuck between a rock and a hard place, and up the creek without a paddle. The creek in question is, of course, the strait of Hormuz.

Firmly ensconced in his weird parallel universe, Trump insists the war is all but won, Iran is suing for peace and talks are making good progress.

In the real world, Iran is still fighting on all fronts, Israel is still bombing, the strait of Hormuz remains largely closed, and the Iran-allied Houthi militia in Yemen has joined the war, attacking Israel and potentially blocking Red Sea trade routes. The US and Iran have each issued maximalist demands, but there is no sign of actual negotiations. They are even further apart than they were before Trump, egged on by Benjamin Netanyahu, abandoned diplomacy last month.

Sometime soon, Trump will be forced to confront the huge gap between what he wants and what’s on offer. At that point he could turn to the troop buildup in the Gulf and order ground attacks.

Trump is increasingly isolated and out on a limb. His wealthy Arab business cronies no longer trust him. US bases on their territory now resemble a liability, not a defence. When he demanded Nato’s help, Europe said: we’ll let you know. Likewise, Iran’s ethnic Kurds are less than keen to die for a muppet. Support for the war among the US public and the Maga right, always weak, is a fast-vanishing mirage. Having egged him on, Netanyahu refuses to bail him out – or to stop bombing everyone in sight. Silly-billy Trump! He believed Israel’s assurance of quick victory. As for Iran, its surviving leadership, dominated by ultras, reckons it’s winning. Its hard line gets harder by the day.

Imagine being one of the thousands of US marines and paratroopers now deploying to the Gulf. With a commander-in-chief like Trump, who needs enemies? Except plenty more lie in wait. Iran’s armed forces number 610,000 active-duty personnel, with reserves of 350,000. The regime may no longer be able to fight in the air or at sea. But on land, treading familiar terrain and ultimately willing, perhaps, to sacrifice “human waves” of troops, as in the 1980’s Iran-Iraq war, it remains a formidable foe. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps says it’s ready to carpet-bomb its own territory if invaded.

What to say or think at this dread juncture? This illegal war should never have been launched. Trump acted foolishly and opportunistically. Netanyahu, too, is greatly to blame. The threat was not “imminent”. And the war’s most persuasive justification – a promise to free Iranians from tyranny – has been abandoned. Negotiations, unconditional on both sides, are the only sane way out.

Trump must swallow his pride, admit his error, eat humble pie. Yet as all the world knows, the very idea that this most ignorant, reckless and narcissistic of US leaders might actually do so is utterly ridiculous.

The second Trump presidency was always going to end in disaster. Now it’s happening.

Trump’s Deputy Atty General knows the whole Trump administration belongs in jail

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche revealed this week during the Conservative Political Action Conference that President Donald Trump’s administration has real fears about what will happen in 2028 if Democrats take back office.

The Department of Justice leader spoke to the audience during the event attended by conservatives and right-wing influencers in suburban Dallas on Thursday, describing why Trump’s team was so concerned about potential prosecution for “unspecified offenses,” The Daily Beast reported.

“Even in this administration, everybody’s afraid that the next administration, if we don’t win, we’re going to all be investigated and indicted,” Blanche said. “And why are they afraid? Because that’s exactly what happened during the last administration.”

“All of Trump’s Cabinet, everybody that worked at the White House… had to go to the grand jury,” Blanche added.

COMMENT

IF WE HAVE ELECTIONS IN 2026 AND 2028 — Everyone in the Trump administration should be arrested the day after Trump leaves office and held in jail awaiting trial.

Meanwhile, the new Dept of Justice should build a gallows on the National Mall with space for 10 or more and use it.

The whole world is laughing at us . . . but it’s not funny

The United States of America is now the laughingstock of the world.

An cocaine addict who says Vitamin A will prevent measles is Secretary of Health and Human Services..
A halfwit who says climate change is nonsense is Secretary of Interior.
An alcoholic skirt-chaser who has seven children by three woman, who was a part-time TV host is Secretary of Defense.
A former agent for Qatar is Attorney General.
A Putin groupie is Director of National Intelligence.

A Turkish proverb says: “When a clown moves into a palace, he does not become king, the palace becomes a circus.”

This  incompetent team has decided to create a competitor to the United Nations. Since Trump’s  “Peace Council” has existed, Trump has launched more military strikes than Biden did during his entire term.

Every time the Epstein affair resurfaces, bombs explode somewhere in the world and create a diversion.

Bomb more to gain more.

There isn’t a single country where Trump hasn’t taken advantage of the situation to enrich himself and his family. A personal Boeing 757 “given” to the US by Qatar (with the provision that when Trump leaves office, he takes the jet with him); investments in Trump and Trump family projects across the Mideast and elsewhere; manipulation of stock prices benefiting a select few insiders.

Any one of these conflicts of interest should have triggered immediate impeachment.

But the grift, the theft, the lawlessness, the wars continue because 49% of the American people did not want a black woman to be President.

Republican PAC mailing false, phony, lying voting advertisements

BACKGROUND:  The Virginia General Assembly passed and the Governor signed a bill establishing a referendum on April 21 (early voting started 45 days before).  The referendum authorizes the General Assembly to re-draw Virginia’s eleven congressional districts, gerrymandered to favor Democrats 10-1 (current make-up is 6 Dem, 5 Rep).

March 26 this flyer appeared in mailboxes throughout the state — President Obama urging voters to vote NO.

THIS FLYER IS PHONY. OBAMA IS VERY MUCH IN FAVOR OF THE MEASURE AND HAS BEEN FEATURED IN TV AND RADIO ADS URGING VIRGINIANS TO VOTE “YES.”

The flyer was mailed by the “Justice for Democracy PAC.”  This PAC is a shadowy Republican group.

A nearly identical graphic was texted the same day by Democracy and Justice PAC, along with a message purporting to be from an Obama backer named Suzanna. “President Barack Obama says ‘For too long gerrymandering has contributed to our stalled progress and warped our representative government.’ That’s why it’s important next month to vote NO against Virginia’s redistricting effort.”

Both these PACs  —  Democracy and Justice PAC and Justice for Democracy PAC —  are chaired by former Republican Virginia Del. A.C. Cordoza, who lost his seat in the November 2025 election.

The press was all over Joe Biden for stumbling. WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THE LUNATIC, DEMENTED PRESIDENT TRUMP ????

Just watch Trump at a Cabinet meeting.

I don’t envy the parents of dead servicemen listening to this.

In the middle of all this Trump went off on a several-minute tangent about how he replaced the thousand dollar ballpoint pens (all figures invented) with Sharpies that work great but much much cheaper. This went on for more than an hour and a half.

I’m genuinely curious about how we’re going to do almost three more years of this. Are you curious? I’m curious?

Can you tell the difference?

Here are two photos.

One of is ICE agents arresting a person in Minnesota early this year.

The other is an Iranian policeman after shooting a demonstrator in Tehran.

Can you tell any difference?

Federal agents take a demonstrator into custody outside the Whipple Federal Building on January 9.

Is climate activist Greta Thornburg really the Antichrist? Peter Thiel thinks so.

Don’t know who Peter Thiel is?  He’s the owner of PayPal.  He also is the multi-billionaire who took JDVance (not his real name) under his wing and who is supporting Vance’s run for President in 2028.

What if Greta Thunberg is actually the Antichrist? OK maybe just a legionnaire of the Antichrist. What if peace is bad and war is good? What if the Woke Mind Virus is stopping the technological progress that is heading toward the Transhuman Singularity? We’re just asking questions here!

Most people would hesitate to teach theology in Rome if they lacked the requisite qualifications and degrees. That hasn’t stopped Peter Thiel, the billionaire tech investor and Republican mega-donor, whose lectures on the antichrist have been the hottest heretical ticket in the city for months, held at the Palazzo Taverna in Rome, just a stone’s throw from the Vatican.

I don’t think lack of professional credentials is the real problem here. It’s more . . .

His sold-out lectures are not only about garnering attention to his ideas, but also drawing others outside of the technocratic and political worlds into embracing his philosophy. These lectures have been reported on widely by many international publications, and were even lampooned on an episode of “South Park” last October.

And according to multiple reports, that includes the belief that the people who strive for peace, work for justice and want to embrace diversity are to blame for western civilization’s supposed ongoing collapse.

Thiel’s religious beliefs are a mishmash of his political and personal beliefs about technology, civilization, race and democracy. And his views on the antichrist range from the disturbing to the nonsensical.

For example, he has said that he believes the antichrist will push the world toward peace using the fear of war. He also thinks the antichrist would use peace to slow down or even stop technological advances. He’s said it’s possible that climate change activist Greta Thunberg and other critics could be “legionnaires of the Antichrist.”  . . The man who made his fortune with PayPal and is building an even greater fortune by bringing artificial intelligence to government surveillance with Palantir isn’t obsessed with the antichrist in the “Exorcist” sense. His interests are instead an esoteric mashup of teachings from the late French academic Rene Girard’s mimetic theory and the Nazi jurist Carl Schmitt, who argued that modern thought is a secular belief rather than a religious complex.

Thiel’s obsession with Thunberg in particular has rocketed past “idiosyncratic” and is now in the extremely creepy stalker category.

Society has a serious billionaire problem and this guy, who among other things gave us his equally twisted messenger boy J.D. Vance, is Exhibit A. Or maybe B, given the continuing existence of Elon Musk.
